[June 2018] Workshop of MajuLab mirror site at Université Côte d'Azur (UCA) Kick-Off

This event was funded by UCA, the Institute of Physics of Nice (INPHYNI) and the UMI MajuLab, an international joint unit based in Singapore (http://majulab.cnrs.fr).

The purpose of this workshop was to identify the common scientific interests between Nice and Singapore in the fields of optics and photonics in order to develop a collaborative strategy between UCA and the partner institutions of the UMI in Singapore.
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS), and in France, the CNRS and Sorbonne University (SU).

The workshop, opened by Dr Jean-Marc Gambaudo, President of UCA, formalized the launch of the MajuLab mirror site at UCA. This collaborative structure, coordinated by Massimo Giudici, Professor at INPHYNI, in liaison with Christian Miniatura, research director at CNRS and director of MajuLab, will promote and facilitate exchanges of researchers and students between UCA and Singapore*.

A delegation of eight Singaporean researchers affiliated to NUS, NTU and A*Star (Agency for Science, Technology and Research) went to the workshop as well as French researchers strongly involved in the themes of the workshop and likely to participate in collaborations with Singapore laboratories.
Some thirty UCA researchers, including INPHYNI and CRHEA (Center for Research on Heteroepitaxy and its Applications), participated in the event.

Guest speakers gave an overview of their scientific activities and technological expertise.
These presentations were followed by a round table to discuss possible scientific collaborations between UCA and Singapore researchers on the topics of quantum technologies, nano-photonics and laser sources as well as appropriate funding strategies. The workshop ended with a visit to the facilities of INPHYNI and CRHEA.
A second Nice-Singapore workshop will be organized in 2019 in Singapore.
